What are we actually voting for?

The General Polling is held on today until the day after tomorrow. How will you decide who to vote for? For their platform, background or promotion?

Some said that a number of candidates remains unknown to most. The real problem is, how worthy it is for one to know the candidates?

For some units, their publicity materials only have the name of the cabinet and some personal particulars of the people running for the posts. Imagine that they are all replaced by me. Does it really affect your understanding of the cabinet?

Absolutely not; and still no difference when they are replaced by Tung Chee-hwa's whole horde of 3+11 Principal Officials, or by the list of leaders of the Soviet Union from Lenin to Gorbachev, since they missed out something very important: their Platform.

Distributing the platform in Campaign Meetings is one thing; to make your platform known in the election is another. When there is so few attending the Campaign Meetings, with most of them being "in the circle" or ex-excos that has no voting right, does having a platform really matter at all? Just in case, are there some students who fills in the job of the spokesperson and tell their subjects to choose their candidate?

When students are unable (or just reluctant) to read the platform, and judge only by looks and on the advise of the "elders", is there any difference between it and blind voting? Why don't just tell the elders who wanted to talk so much to run for it themselves?

Voting for candidates without any platform is equivalent to Blind Voting.
